Office Furniture Chairs Come In Many Styles: Office furniture chairs come in all sizes, shapes, designs and materials. And though desks have been around for hundreds of years, in one form or another, the modern office chair was first used in the mid to late 1800's. The closest thing to a modern office chair was used by Charles Darwin. He put wheels on his chair so that he could move around easier when reaching for his specimens. Since that time, and especially during the 1900's, the office chair has evolved a lot. Here are some of the types of office furniture chairs that can be found in most offices today.
There are many points to think about when purchasing your ergonomic office chair. You have to look for a seat that is adjustable, so that you can modify it to suit your own special requirements. You also want to find a seat that can support your back (as should be) and spine, specially in the lumbar area, which can help prevent pain and injury caused by sitting in the same position for long periods of time. You also want to make certain that the seat is big enough to be comfy also. You should look for an office chair that has arm rests, which can hold up your arms as you type, avoiding shoulder and neck damage, as well as a chair that can swivel.
Glide System: The Stressless chair uses gliding wheels to take the chair from an upright to reclined position and back again. Rather than springing you back and forth with a traditional lever mechanism, the chair simply relies on your body weight and cues to tell it when to sit up and to recline.
Screening Your Screen: Take for example, your computer screen. Are you working in front of a computer screen with really small fonts that you have to strain your eyes and neck just to see what you have typed? Does the display of your screen “shake”? Is the placement of your main monitor too high that your permanent head position is looking slightly upwards?
That said, though the headrest is designed to lean back as you lean back your head, the springs are fairly strong and for those with weak neck muscles, it can often feel like it is forcing your head forward. The best solution is to keep the headrest reclined.
